Lately, Minnesotans appear a bit perplexed. Our Indian Summer has wonderfully continued into the midst of November and, as Thanksgiving approaches, folks aren’t sure if they should water their still flourishing, cold-loving vegetables in the garden, buy tree tops, holiday shop, pull out the Christmas cookie cutters, or mow the lawn. Here’s what I say…do what moves you!
For me, especially around Thanksgiving, writing a note to a friend is what feels instinctively natural.
Be it a humorous Thanksgiving card (“over the river and thru the woods”)…
…or a reminder of your gratitude for their being, it’s a transparent but powerful act of love.
Or drop one of these Thankful Notes into a loved ones purse, briefcase or lunchbox this month (new Mini Notes just in from Live Love, where each purchase equals a meal for one in need)!
For those of you with Thanksgiving on the brain, check out my previous posts for ideas involving both handwriting and the family dinner! A new one to add this season comes from the always creative Sugar Paper with their Thanksgiving Project.
With every purchase in November (or chose to download for free), you’ll receive a set of cards to kick-off your Thanksgiving meal and promote connectedness and conversation among friends and family!! These questions could be exactly what you need to create a mindful gathering.
For you Twin Citians in the Holiday shopping spirit, come visit Brown Ink and support local vendors at these two Holiday Markets this week….
Be thankful. Write a few notes. Support the locals. And take deep breaths in between.
This morning, my daughter Bea literally ran into the window with excitement after her brother pointed out the surprise on the front lawn. Overnight the Twin Cities magically transformed from quiet autumn to winter wonderland. While many folks aren’t too jazzed about the early appearance of snow, the timing helps to kickoff the holiday spirit. Over the next few weeks Brown Ink will be out on the town at these local markets…
Come find me this Thursday at the beautiful, floral boutique Spruce with goods from Brown Ink and locally-loved Mille on sale. We’ll be toasting the holidays from 5-8pm with refreshments, mingling, demonstrations and 10% off goods and holiday pre-order floral arrangements at 50th and France.
And this coming weekend the one-of-a-kind, U.S. Made POP-Up Market, Northern Grade, will be in town. With it’s debut market in Minneapolis in 2010, Northern Grade has continued to grow nationally, supporting quality, American made products. I’m ecstatic to be selling my personal Brown Ink Paper Goods line featuring many new letterpress images hot off the press. Come see me over on 811 Glenwood Avenue across from the International Market Square both Saturday and Sunday.
Finally, don’t miss the ever spirited Morningside Woman’s Club Holiday Boutique, Saturday November 22nd in Edina. You’ll truly find something for everyone on your holiday list. Just imagine if you could enjoy the holidays, even before the Christmas music hits the radio, by crossing off all your holiday gift and to-do list items while supporting a few local markets. It’s just that easy. Come find me and get inspired!
Back from four days in Disney World and my head is spinning. Nevertheless, I’m super geared-up for a week of Holiday Boutiques for all of you in the Twin Cities.
It’s the perfect time to pick up holiday gifts at pop-up-shops and boutiques before the madness of Black Friday and December shopping sets in. Why not enjoy browsing locally made products vs. hitting the mall a month from now?
Brown Ink Paper Goods is excited to be selling a variety of goods at two shows this week.
Don’t miss the Edina Morningside Holiday Boutique tomorrow afternoon in the Morningside neighborhood of Edina, with a fabulous variety of vendors.
We’ll also be a part of Marche de Fetes in Uptown this Friday night, a group of locally designed and hand crafted gifts. Come grab a glass of wine and groove to the music as you purchase some unique and local goods!
Lastly, a big shot-out to Ali Kaplan who featured Brown Ink on her Ali Shops blog last week. Make sure to subscribe to her weekly Swag newsletter with the latest shopping and style news, events, and sales in the Twin Cities. She’s a gal in the know.
Off to mail my Magic Kingdom postcards…from Mpls to Mpls. Oh well. We wrote! And do make sure to get out this week.
